Hem fet un recorregut a peu per la ciutat, aprofitant que està núbol i la calor no apreta massa. Hem fet fotos de finestres per la meva col·lecció, i també d'edificis singulars o típics de la ciutat. La que més hem vist i que més ens ha impressionat ha estat el Bisó americà, altrament anomenat Búfal Bos bison, totes les fotos que li hem fet han estat tirades des de dins del cotxe.    <a id="res_452" href="http://quaderndecamp.info/gallery/2/bisonte-enviar.gif"><img src="http://quaderndecamp.info/gallery/2/previews/bisonte-enviar.jpg" border="0" /></a> sortides a camp 2008-05-27T08:27:07Z carles UN CARGOLET AMERICÀ http://quaderndecamp.info/post/2/68 Aquesta tarda, mentre berenavem es passejava per la part del darrera de la casa un ocell paregut al nostre cargolet, però més gros i amb la cua més llarga (perquè tot ha de ser més aquí). Li he pogut fer unes fotos des des de la taula de la cuina, a través de la finestra. Més tard, l'he pogut identificar. Es tracta del Thryomanes bewickii . La guia diu que en alguns casos niuen en les abundants bústies que hi ha prop de les carreteres. Hem pogut fotografiar bé la flor d'un cactus, que encara no he identificat i una falguera que també tinc que verificar. El que sí he pogut identificar és el voltor Cathartes aura, que ens ha sobrevolat en diverses ocasions i que m'ha permés fer-li unes quantes fotografies en vol. On més fàcil és fer-ho, és en el parc que rodeja el Capitol. En aquest lloc, els esquirols, estan acostumats a que els hi donguin menjar, i només veuen que seus, ja es possen al teu davant fent les mil poses per cridar la teva atenció. Sort en tinc que no tiro amb diapositiva, doncs seria la ruïna total. Només ha durat uns tres minuts escassos, però en aquest poc temps ha fet caure branques dels arbres, trencat vidres amb la pedra que queia i fins i tot ha arrencat arbres de sota rel en alguns parcs, com el que envolta al Capitol. Aquesta nit, quan tornavem cap a casa, hem pogut veure un gripau que estava palplantat en la gespa d'un parterre. Es tracta del Bufo nebulifer, molt comú a Texas. <a id="res_406" href="http://quaderndecamp.info/gallery/2/bufo-nebulifer.gif"><img src="http://quaderndecamp.info/gallery/2/previews/bufo-nebulifer.jpg" border="0" /></a> amfibis sortides a camp 2008-05-15T07:39:24Z carles QUADERN DE CAMP A AUSTIN http://quaderndecamp.info/post/2/61 Hi ha dos arbres que es repeteixen abundantment per tota la ciutat. El  més espectacular és el Quercus virginiana var. fusiformis, amb exemplars de dimensions gegantines. L'altre menys abundant però també amb forta presència és el Quercus buckleyi (Q. texana) amb unes fulles que recorden les de certs aurons.La densitat d'arbres existents dins de la ciutat, fa que hi puguin viure una bona munió d'espècies faunístiques.
